Rip City College Catching Clinics are designed to raise the bar for youth players, and develop the skills needed to be a college catcher, let alone an elite HS player. The college catching curriculum is modeled after collegiate style workouts. The sessions will be led by former college players and/or current HS Coaches.
The Monday clinic will be led by Coach Drew Caroline who was a standout player at Christopher Newport University. Coach Caroline was named to the Conference All-Academic Team as a freshman and matured into a starting catcher later in his career, starting in 35 games for a pitching staff that ranked fourth in the country in strikeouts per nine innings. He was named to the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team & logged a .992 fielding percentage which has him ranked third all-time in CNU history.
This one day session will put emphasis on receiving & blocking, but will finish with proper transitions and footwork for throwing.
